I can't connect to the Internet

Trouble connecting to the Internet can be caused by a variety of factors. Please try each of these solutions to resolve your problem.

  1. Check your Connections

Often times, problems with connecting to the Internet can be caused by a loose connection between your Satellite modem and your computer. Check to be sure the cable is securely plugged in to both the modem and the computer. Once you've checked and re-connected your cable, try connecting to the Internet again.

  2. Restart your Satellite modem and your computer

Many times your modem will simply need to be turned off and restarted (power-cycled) in order to re-establish connection to the Internet.

    1. Shut down your computer.
    2. Turn off your Satellite modem by unplugging the power cord
    3. Wait for at least 30 seconds to one minute.
    4. Plug back the power cord on your Satellite modem, and wait for it to go through its internal startup sequence.
    5. Turn on your computer, and try to reconnect to the Internet.

  3. Interference with the Satellite Signal

Your satellite dish needs a clear, unobstructed view of the southern sky to receive the satellite broadband signal. If there is some sort of interference (such as a tree or building) you will need to either remove it, or have your dish moved to a location offering a clear view of the southern sky.

  4. Weather

Bad weather (such as heavy rain, thunderstorms or snow storms) could also interfere with the satellite signal, resulting in poor performance and slow connection speed. If there is a storm in your area, please wait until the weather clears, then you should once again have normal connection speeds.

  5. Check the Internet connection of your computer
  6. If you installed the NetZero Connection Center, you will see the icon on the right side of your system tray (next to your system clock.) Double click the NetZero Connection Center icon and select Check Internet Connection. Note down the message and click OK.

If you were able to connect to the internet before, have not made any changes to your system configuration, and are now unable to access the internet, then you may be affected by a service outage. Service outages do not occur frequently and normally last 1-2 hours. Please try connecting to the internet at a later time.

If your internet connection becomes available for longer than a few hours, please contact customer support at 1-800-638-9376.

  7. Damaged or misaligned Satellite dish

If you noticed that your satellite dish may have been damaged or misaligned, then it may the cause problems with your internet connection. Please call our customer support at 1-800-638-9376 for more assistance.
