Error - Juno was unable to connect to its central computers (Juno 5.0)

Trouble connecting to Juno's central computers can be due to a number of different reasons, some of which are problems with your computer or modem and some of which are problems with the Juno network or access numbers. We recommend that you try searching for a topic that contains the specific error message or problem that you receive in order to find the most helpful advice.

Let our new Connection Wizard pinpoint your problem!

The NetZero Connection Wizard is our newest help tool. Download it today to identify and resolve many common issues that may prevent you from successfully connecting to the Internet.

To use the NetZero Connection Wizard, you will need to have a Windows Operating System (other than Windows NT) running on your computer. If you cannot download the NetZero Connection Wizard from your computer, simply download it onto a diskette from any computer with Internet access and then install it on the computer you would like to fix.

Here are some general steps to try out if you are unable to find a topic that relates to the specific error you see:

  1. Make sure that no other communications software is in use. Be especially careful to disable any fax or voice mail programs on your computer. If you are unsure how to do this, please consult the manual that came with your computer or with your communications software. To find out which other applications are running on your computer, press Ctrl+Alt+Del.
  2. Check that the modem is on (if it is an external modem) and that it is connected to the phone jack and the computer. Reset the modem, either by turning it off and then on again (if it is an external modem) or by restarting your computer (if it is an internal one).
  3. Make sure your access numbers are set up correctly.
  4. If you can dial out, but your connection times out repeatedly, try a different access number.
  5. If your modem is external, you may have a faulty modem cable. Cables designed for use with modems support "hardware flow control." If you suspect that your modem cable is faulty or incorrectly wired, try replacing it.
