Common Connection Errors / Solutions Error 711: The Remote Access Service Manager could not start There may be several causes for this error. To resolve this issue please try the troubleshooting steps below:
A. Log in as administrator Check if you have logged in as system administrator, or contact the OEM to ensure permissions are configured correctly.
B. Ensure Windows is starting in Normal mode - Click the Windows Start button and click Run.
- In the Open: text box, type: msconfig and click OK.
- Restart the computer and try connecting again.
C. Uninstall and reinstall your modem. Sometimes simply uninstalling and reinstalling your modem can resolve connection difficulties. To uninstall your modem: - Close all programs that might be using your modem.
- Click the Windows Start button, point to Settings and select Control Panel.
- Double-click the Modems icon.
- Select your modem from the list and click Remove.
- Click Close.
To reinstall your modem: - Shut down and restart your computer.
- When you restart your computer, Windows will automatically detect your modem and launch the Add New Hardware wizard.
- Follow the wizard's on-screen instructions to reinstall your modem. If Windows cannot find the necessary drivers for your modem, please contact your modem manufacturer.
D . Start Remote Access Services Connection Manager - Click the Windows Start button, and click Run.
- In the Open: text box, type: cmd and click OK.
- In the open window at the prompt, type: net start rasman and press Enter.
- Close the window and try connecting again.
