Error 17 - NetZero has encountered a problem and needs to close.

If you're receiving Error 17 or a message stating "NetZero has encountered a problem and needs to close," it could be due to a problem between the NetZero program and other programs running on your computer. To fix this, please follow the steps below:

A. Restart the NetZero program and try connecting again.

  1. Double-click the NetZero icon on your desktop.
  2. Type in your Member ID and password if they have not already been entered.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. You may be prompted to select your access numbers again. If so, make sure to type in a new name for your phone list (for example, type in 'HOME2') and continue setting up your access numbers.

B. Try rebooting your computer and launching NetZero again

Sometimes a simple reboot will fix the problem. To do this:

  1. Click the Start button and select Shut Down.
  2. Select Restart.
  3. Launch NetZero after Windows restarts.
  4. Type in your Member ID and password if they have not already been entered.
  5. Click Connect.
  6. You may be prompted to select your access numbers again. If so, make sure to type in a new name for your phone list (for example, type in 'HOME3') and continue setting up your access numbers.

C. Make sure you have the latest version of NetZero

If you are still receiving Error 17, you will need to download and install the latest version of the NetZero software.
