What is NetZero Data Share? How does it work?

The NetZero Data Share program is an easy, exciting way for people to get and use up to 1GB of free data per month with their NetZero Mobile Broadband device.

All you do is claim data from your friends on Facebook, transfer it to your NetZero Mobile Broadband account, and then use it within 30 days of transfer.

Best of all, you can continue to claim and use data every month. NetZero will give you more data to share with your friends on Facebook each month, as long as you belong to the program.

Does it cost anything?

The NetZero Data Share program is 100% free if you have an active NetZero Mobile Broadband account and device*.

You don't pay a cent for the data you share with your friends; you don't pay a thing to claim data from your friends; you don't pay a fee to transfer the data into your NetZero Mobile Broadband account, and you don't pay to use the data with your device.

*If you're not already a NetZero Mobile Broadband member, you'll need to sign up for an account, purchase a device, and select a service level. For more information, please visit www.netzero.com

How do I claim data?

To claim your data, just click on the Claim Data link on a friend's Facebook wall, then click the Accept Data button on your Data Share page. Every time you claim data, 200MB will be added to your Data Share bank which you can transfer into your NetZero Mobile Broadband account whenever you're ready.

How much data can I get?

Every time you claim data from a friend, 200MB will be added to your Data Share bank. You can claim and transfer up to 1GB per data cycle. A data cycle is a 30-day period that is based on the day you first join the NetZero Data Share program, similar to a billing cycle.

How fast do I have to use my data?

Once you've claimed data, it will remain available for transfer to your Netzero Mobile Broadband account for two full data cycles following the end of the data cycle in which you claimed the data.

So, if your data cycle ends on the 30th of the month, any data you collected during this cycle will expire 60 days after the 30th.

Once the data is transferred to your NetZero Mobile Broadband account, it will be immediately available for you to use, and will expire 30 days after transfer.

Can I choose who gets my data?

When NetZero provides you with data to share, it will be available to any of your friends (or anyone who can see your Facebook page) on a first-come, first-served basis. You can't save data for specific friends, prevent anyone who can see your page from claiming your data, or allow anyone who can see your page to claim more than 200MB from you from the data you have to share.

Can I claim the data NetZero gives me to share?

The data we give you is for you to share with others, so you cannot claim any of it. To get data to use with your NetZero Mobile Broadband service you'll need to claim some from one or more of your friends.

Can I get/give data without using Facebook?

No. Data can only be claimed and transferred from your Facebook account.

What happens to data I don't use?

If you don't transfer claimed data from your Facebook Data Share bank into your NetZero Mobile Broadband account by the end of the second data cycle after you've claimed it, it will expire. A data cycle is a 30-day period that is based on the day you first join the NetZero Data Share program, similar to a billing cycle.

Once the data has been transferred into your NetZero Mobile Broadband account, it will be available for you to use for 30 days after transfer. If you don't use the data within 30 days, it will expire.

How can I prevent people I don't know from claiming data from me?

Anyone who is your friend or who can see your Facebook pages can claim data from you. The only way you can restrict who can see your data is by using existing Facebook restrictions on who has access to your pages.

Can I request data?

The only way for you to obtain data for your own use under this NetZero Data Share program is by claiming some from a friend who has data to share. If that friend runs out of data, there are probably others who have some, or will get some soon.

Does it cost anything to use the data?

Claiming, accepting, transferring, and using data is 100% free if you have an active NetZero Mobile Broadband account and device*.

Once you've accepted your claimed data and have it added to the balance in your Data Share bank, you just need to transfer it to your NetZero Mobile Broadband account and it will be ready for you to use right away. That data will be available for 30 days after you transfer it. Just claim it, transfer it, and use it.

Can I sell my data back to NetZero or to anyone else?

No, the data is for you to share and use. Un-transferred data in your Data Share bank will expire by the end of the second data cycle after you've claimed it (a data cycle is a 30-day period that is based on the day you first join the NetZero Data Share program, similar to a billing cycle), while any unused data transferred to your NetZero Mobile Broadband account will expire 30 days after transfer.

Once claimed, you cannot give it or sell it to anyone else.

How do I get out of the program?

To get out of the program, go to Facebook's Account Settings, and delete the NetZero Data Share program application from your account. If you do so, all the data in your Facebook Data Bank will be lost. Any data you transferred into your NetZero Mobile Broadband account will still be usable until its expiration date (30 days from when you transferred it).
